This is a portrait of Chinese immigrants from Georgetown CO. The two known Chinamen are Wa Chin and Tang Ya-Shun.  These men were most likely merchants belonging to a tong.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            

                                                                                                                           

This is a picture of what a typical Chinese laundry would look like.  While most Chinese immigrants did more industrial work, some established small business like this one.                                                                                                                                                    

                                                               

Fishing was also a very big industry on the west coast after the gold rush died down.  Many Chinamen fished with traditionaly styled boats in America.  This industry helped the west be able to support itself instead of relying on the east for supplies.
