This site is being developed to tell the story of Frank R. Reese, bronze sculptor. It is being told from his scrapbook of articles about his 'second career' taken up after the age of fifty. This cover page and site will change rapidly during the month of June 1997 as articles, photographs, and interviews with Frank are added. In the meantime, start with this excellent article that first appeared in Larry Hatteberg's KANSAS PEOPLE in 1995.
"The bronze sculptures stand in the hitching Post Studio, a tribute to the Old West captured by an artist some might call a maverick. A heart attack made Frank Reese Sr. -- who grew up thinking artists were sissies -- turn seriously to the craft in 1972."

"A severe heart attack forced Reese into early retirement from his welding business in 1972. He'd farmed before that, but he wasn't willing to listen to Uncle Sam tell him how to run his operation." Photos and story by John Schlageck Kansas Living 1995
"Dad said he would make me a horse that money couldn't buy. And he did! It is 11 inches long, 11 inches high, and weighs 26 pounds.
Dad made a buffalo for my brother. It is eight inches high, eleven inches long, and weighs 41 pounds. This statue took 101 hours of labor to complete. Now Dad is working on a longhorn steer."
